DESCRIPTION OF JOB DUTIES:

Under Amarillo College’s Promotional Opportunity Policy, only current appointed employees will be considered for this position during the first five (5) working days from the date of notice.

Oversees and manages the planning and implementation of a coordinated programming, promotions/marketing and content production strategy across all platforms including broadcast, online and the community. Responsible for overseeing the production of stories using images, audio/video and both long-form and real time content creation and distribution strategies and tactics. Collaborate across all departments within the station to create brand consistency and optimization a well as to meet station goals. Directs and supervises programming, production, promotion, community engagement and web staff. Prepares, monitors and analyzes departments’ budget. Assists with special events and other station activities. Performs other duties as assigned.

GENERAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Five years of leadership or supervisor experience in a multiplatform content creation (publishing, journalism, radio/television, online/web) and/or communications. Prefer non-commercial broadcasting experience.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Mass Communications, Marketing or related field is required. Master’s Degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Mass Communications, Marketing or related field is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must have outstanding communication skills and an understanding of how to create content that draws an audience. Ability to lead and inspire teams of personnel to achieve station goals. Leadership skills that can define and manage a set of goals involving diverse contributors and content types. Knowledge of community and ability to relate such to content across all platforms. Project planning and management skills to manage diverse internal and external deadlines. Knowledge of principles of marketing. Expertise in software such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Create Suite, web publishing and analytics, and social medial tools.Must be able to stand for long periods of time and move materials and equipment weighing up to 30 lbs. May be required to work in a noisy environment. Will be on-call for various station activities. Must have a valid Texas driver’s license. Able to work under stress, to work independently and as a team member, and deal with people in a professional manner. Some evening, weekend, and holiday work is required. Some travel may be required
